Las Vegas Lights After Game Parties At The Plaza Hotel & Casino

3840--LVLFC-Logo-Box-550-x-247 The Las Vegas Lights FC made their debut in the United Soccer League in 2018, bringing even more of a sports craze to the city of lights. They are the first professional soccer team in Las Vegas since 1979 when the Las Vegas Seagulls of the American Soccer League played so bringing soccer back to Las Vegas was a big deal for many soccer fans. The name for the team was decided from a poll which included other names Las Vegas Silver Club, Club Vegas, Viva Vegas, and Las Vegas Action. However, Las Vegas Lights was ultimately decided on as the name of the team. Plaza Hotel & Casino is a proud sponsor of the Las Vegas Lights. The Plaza logo can be found on the front of their match shorts. Zappos, a large internet retailer with deep downtown Las Vegas roots, also sponsors the team. The Lights play at Cashman Field, which is in downtown Las Vegas so it’s safe to say that the team has many ties to the downtown area. Most of the team’s players are from the United States or Mexico, but there are also team members from Canada, El Salvador, Japan and even some Las Vegas locals, bringing great diversity to the team. The team has taken over the hearts of many Las Vegas locals and people are finding new ways to celebrate and support the team. After each Las Vegas Lights home game in downtown Las Vegas, fans from everywhere can come over to the Post-Game Pitch, which is outside in front of The Plaza Hotel & Casino, next to the Porte-cochere, to celebrate the team. If you were at the game supporting the team in person, show your game ticket to the bar staff at The Omaha Lounge to receive a Las Vegas Lights specialty drink on us! You might even get to meet some of the players while you’re there as they’ve been known to come celebrate with their fans. Come share your passion for soccer and grab a cold one to celebrate the Las Vegas Lights! See Schedule

There will be chicken or pork with the traditional garnish of onions and cilantro. To wash down your tacos, you can enjoy an Agua Fresca like Horchata, Pineapple, or Hibiscus. If you prefer something a little stronger, you can grab a margarita or a Mexican beer at one of the nearby bars.

This is sure to be the best party in Las Vegas with the most music, culture, and refreshments to offer. Get in the spirit of Cinco De Mayo and join us at The Plaza Hotel & Casino for the party and a couple of tequila shots. Olé!

What is Cinco de Mayo?

Cinco De Mayo is traditionally a Mexican holiday that celebrates the Mexican army’s victory over France at the Battle of Pueblo in 1862. Cinco De Mayo is often mistaken to be Mexican Independence Day, but it is an entirely different holiday as Mexican independence was declared more than 50 years before the Battle of Puebla, which is what is celebrated on Cinco De Mayo.

Although the holiday is relatively small in Mexico, in the United States, Cinco De Mayo has become a celebration that incorporates Mexican culture, heritage, and tradition.

Additionally, the holiday celebrated in America often involves Cinco de Mayo parties which include eating traditional Mexican food such as tacos and drinking Mexican alcohol such as tequila or Mexican beer. The holiday is celebrated around the country with parades, parties, mariachi music, and festivals to celebrate the culture.

It’s a perfect time for people of all cultures to come together and celebrate all that the Mexican culture has to offer.

Luau Beach Party

3842-Luau2018-550x247-LogoBox When you think of the ideal vacation destination I bet two of the places that cross your mind almost immediately are Las Vegas and Hawaii. Unfortunately, the two are separated by the state of California and the Pacific Ocean so it’s hard to hit Las Vegas and Hawaii both in one trip. But, what if we could bring an authentic Hawaiian Luau Beach Party to Las Vegas? Hawaii and Las Vegas have a few things in common, they’re both hot and they’re both an excellent place to relax and unwind with friends and family. That’s why The Plaza Hotel & Casino decided to throw a Luau Beach Party and combine the best of both worlds. This authentic Hawaiian Luau in Las Vegas brings the beach to you at The Plaza’s rooftop pool. At this authentic Hawaiian Luau you get to feast like a king! Some of the items featured on the menu were Hawaiian favorites such as macaroni salad, lomi salmon salad, and Huli Huli chicken, and taro rolls. One of the main events of the feast was Lechon, slow roasted suckling pig which is a Hawaiian delicacy. There were also plenty of Hawaiian inspired drinks like Piña Coladas and a cash bar for convenience. The Aloha $15,000 Slot Tournament was a tournament with $150 buy-in and offered prizes to first place all the way through the fifteenth place. The first place winner took home $5,500! The slot tournament isn’t the only form of entertainment that will took place Memorial Day Weekend. There were Polynesian dancers at the Hawaiian Luau, a live fireworks show, and buffet serving authentic Hawaiian right next to the Pool at the Plaza.

The Mob Museum and Oscars Give You A Deal You Can’t Refuse

Crime Lab at the Mob Museum It’s no secret that Las Vegas has strong ties to the mob that started around the 1950s. Originally, most of the casinos on the strip and in downtown Las Vegas were owned by the mob and organized crime was rampant throughout the city. The Mob Museum, or the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, opened its doors to downtown Vegas in 2012 and is one of the most popular attractions in the downtown area. The museum is an interactive journey through the history of the mob and organized crime as well as the history of Las Vegas and how the city’s roots are connected to the mob. Located in the old federal courthouse, the crown jewel of the museum is the second-floor courtroom where one of the Kefauver Committee hearings was held in the 1950s to expose organized crime. That courtroom now serves as part of the museum and plays a short film detailing the hearings and how they impacted the country.

Oscar’s Steakhouse

oscars steakhouse stock Just down the street from the museum is one of Las Vegas’ best restaurants, Oscar’s Steakhouse, named for Mayor Oscar Goodman himself. Before becoming mayor of Las Vegas, Goodman worked as a defense attorney and defended many clients that are featured in the mob museum that were accused of organized crime such as Meyer Lansky and Frank Rosenthal. Mayor Goodman has often been referred to as the city’s most popular mayor and served for the maximum amount of terms that a mayor can serve in Las Vegas. Named after Mayor Goodman, Oscar’s Steakhouse features perfectly aged steaks cooked over a 600-degree grill. The steakhouse overlooks downtown Las Vegas from its vantage point at The Plaza Hotel & Casino. In addition to the Mob Museum, a visit to Oscar’s is a must do when visiting downtown Las Vegas. Luckily, the two have teamed up to give you an offer you can’t refuse. You can get tickets to the Mob Museum and a three-course prix fixe meal at Oscar’s with a cocktail in one all-inclusive package which costs $99 per person. If you’re looking for a perfect night in downtown Vegas this is the best deal for you. Due to its popularity, we do encourage you to call ahead and make reservations at Oscar’s Steakhouse even if you’ve purchased a package. Book Your Package Now We hope to see you soon!

The origins of Keno can be traced back to China where legend says the game saved an ancient city during a time of war. It is also said that the funds raised from Keno helped to build The Great Wall of China. However, the word keno has Latin roots meaning “five” or “five winning numbers”. The game was brought over to America by Chinese immigrants in the 1800’s.

How do you play Keno?

  1. Step 1: Get A Keno Card This can be acquired from the live Keno lounge on the casino floor.
  2. Step 2: Select Your Numbers You can select numbers from 1 to 80 to play. Each number you select is called a spot

Murals At Plaza Hotel Casino

The Plaza Hotel & Casino is adorned with murals by street artists Shepard Fairey and D*Face that scale the whole building from top to bottom. These murals were some of the most challenging murals they’ve ever created. Each artist had to overcome personal and unexpected challenges like changing weather patterns. Using scaffolding and the natural curvature of the Plaza Hotel, each artist transformed a side of the hotel into a living piece of art. Both murals will add color and life to an already vibrant downtown Las Vegas and Fremont Street Experience.
