LAS VEGAS – The Plaza Hotel & Casino has hired Sue Ascanio as the property’s general manager.

“Sue is a proven leader who has experience with all aspects of managing a hotel/casino, including the design and construction of large-scale improvement projects and motivating a strong leadership team and staff,” said Jonathan Jossel, CEO of the Plaza Hotel & Casino. “Most importantly, Sue shares my commitment to enhancing the guest and team member experience. I am confident that she will motivate our team and lead operations that will ensure the Plaza remains a top-tier destination in downtown Las Vegas.”

Ascanio is a highly accomplished and licensed gaming and hospitality executive with more than 30 years of Las Vegas, Mid-West region, and tribal gaming experience. She most recently served as general manager at River Rock Casino in Sonoma County, Calif., but began her career in the gaming and hospitality industry in Las Vegas, first with Harrah’s Entertainment for nearly a decade and then with Station Casinos. Over her 12-year tenure with Station Casinos, she served as director of operations, director of food and beverage, and vice president / general manager at three properties. She also served as an executive with Pinnacle Entertainment and Penn National Gaming in Indiana. 

A graduate of the University of Nevada – Las Vegas with a Bachelor of Science in hotel administration, Ascanio looks forward to returning to Las Vegas and joining the Plaza team.
